Founded and organized in 2000, OAHA, now a federally recognized 501(c) charitable organization seeks the following:

Goals

  • To preserve and promote historical significance of the Oxford Area
  • To enhance community values, protect the environment, and encourage economic vitality of the Oxford Area through historic preservation and local history education

Objectives

  • Maintain a non-profit organization to preserve local area history and historic artifacts
  • Encourage local historic building preservation
  • Inventory historic buildings and places
  • Public history education by lectures, workshops, displays, exhibits, newsletter, and this site
  • Funding through grants, contributions, dues, and local fund raising projects
  • Develop and promote a museum to display local history and historic artifacts
  • Network with the area municipal Historic Commissions, and various Chester County, Pennsylvania, and Federal Historical organizations and offices
  • Help establish an Historic District in Oxford and recommend an historic preservation ordinance
  • Help develop local design guidelines for historic preservation and restoration
  • Recognize outstanding performance in local history preservation by awarding OAHA Historic Preservation Achievement awards
